Visit the ticket booth as early as possible

It is advised to visit the Taj Mahal early in the morning to avoid the crowd that follows after. One has to stand in long queues to get tickets from the booth. You will find the crowd at every time of the day and the gates don't open till the sun rises properly. The ticket booth is located 1km from the main gate of the Taj Mahal.

Dress in an appropriate way

Women should dress with modesty as it is a historical monument. Though there are no dress codes given but maintaining a proper dress code is what is expected. Wear something loose and comfortable especially during summers as it faces scorching heat. Wear anything which falls below the knee length.

Keep extra change with yourself

If you are planning to get a ticket to Taj Mahal early morning, keep sufficient change with yourself as the men in the counters don't really like giving exact changes. The rate is Rs. 750 for Indians and it is Rs. 1,000 for a foreigner. A foreigner should always keep a map of Agra so that they do not get lost.

Know the list of things which you can't carry inside the Taj Mahal

There are many things which you cannot carry to the Taj Mahal and you should keep a check on the same. All the bags are checked in queues to prevent any unwanted thing from entering the Taj Mahal. There are mini lockers outside the monument where you have to keep your belongings. You may be forced to buy from the shops when you come to pick your belongings so be careful and keep your money safe.

Know from which gate to enter

There are mainly three gates to enter the Taj Mahal. The West and East gates are best to enter and you have to be careful so that you do not get the crowd. Try to avoid the South Gate as you have to cross a souvenir market which is always crowded. This gate remains closed till 8 am and if you are planning to visit early morning, you will not be able to do that.

Make new friends

This is an important point to be kept in mind. Once you enter the Taj Mahal, try and talk to new people and make new friends. This way you will be able to take more photos and there will be someone to click photos for you. Entering the Taj Mahal with a smile will help you gain a better experience and it will be overwhelming at the same time. Try to make friends with foreigners as well because it can help you in the process. They are nice and they are always in search of someone who can guide them to know more about India.

Outside Taj Mahal

Outside the Taj Mahal, there are so many shops and cafes where you can relax and spend some quality time with your loved ones. You can find a Cafe Coffee Day where you will find good coffee though it is costly. You will find the authentic delicacies of Agra right there and you don't have to go far.

Take close up photos of the marble architecture

Get to the Taj Mahal and get a detailed enclosure of the same. Take close shots of the marble architecture as it is splendid. Photographs do come out best when you know from which angle you have to click a photo. You have to use the sunlight to the best of your advantage.

Take a view of the Taj Mahal from the Moonlight Garden

If you have enough time to roam around the Taj Mahal, take a ride across the river to the Moonlight Garden to get a full glimpse of the Taj Mahal. You have to pay an entrance fee of Rs. 200 and you can get the best close up look without anyone coming into the picture. If you are some who is not comfortable with paying the entrance fee, then the rickshaw drivers can take you to a route without entering the garden and you will get the same look.

Try Full Moon tour at the Taj Mahal

The moonlight glow of the Taj Mahal gives a different shine to the marble and it looks heavenly. The moonlight helps the marble to glow and it is spectacular to look at. The Taj Mahal is open for night tours but there are added charges to enjoy the same. You have to book the tour by paying Rs. 750 in advance to get the tour.

If you want to see the entire Agra, you need 1 to 2 days to enjoy it in full. The Taj Mahal tour will take complete 1 day to enjoy and the next day, you can go shopping and relax in other attractions of Agra. There are also other places that Agra has to offer.

Best time to visit Taj Mahal

The best time to visit Taj Mahal is from October to March as the weather is pleasant during this time of the year. This is also the most crowded season of the year.
