Timings For Taj Mahal Sightseeing

Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World enthrals the tourists with its beauty. You can visit the monument any time of the year within the below mentioned timelines; the timings are set by the Archaeological Department of India.

Taj Mahal is open every day from sunrise to sunset, except on Fridays; Friday is the prayer day for the Muslims and hence the memorial remains close. Friday afternoon only who have to offer prayers at the Taj mosque are allowed within the premises. Rest of the days, tourists can be within the premises for any amount of time they want, from dawn till dusk.
Tourists folk to Taj Mahal to witness the magical view of the marble edifice and a night view of Taj is must if you want to explore all the moods of the memorial. Taj Mahal is open to tourists at night only on full moon and couple of nights before and after that. Taj Mahal with its pure white marble structure looks just like a pearl with the blue skyline at its backdrop during this time.

Night Timings

Night: 8.30 pm to 12.30 am (only on full moon night, two days before and after full moon.) tourists are allowed within the Taj complex. On full moon nights and the two nights before and after only 400 people are allowed within the complex of Taj Mahal. People are permitted in batches of 50 and they can spend a maximum time of 30 minutes within the complex. Tourists need to book tickets one day in advance and tickets for the same are available at the office of Archaeological Survey of India.

There are three gates to enter Taj Mahal and all these three gates have ticket counters, namely, the west, east and southern gates.
