Later, Madho Singh decided to renovate it into a retreat spot. He built many amusement structures inside the fort. During Indian Mutiny of 1857, the then king, Madho Singh safe guarded British officials and their families inside the fort.

The rooms were arranged in such a manner that the king can visit any room without the knowledge of his other wives. There is a large open-air hall where king used to meet his subjects, in the past.
