Gangotri is one of the most stunning places that is loaded with people between the months of May to June. If you are really interested in the real wonders of nature then it will be a good option to leave this place for Tapovan and Gaumukh at the earliest.

It is also important that you pay your obeisance at Gangotri temple and move towards Gaumukh. Gaumukh means the mouth of the cow. This is an 18 kms trek from the Gangotri and you will have a constant but gradual climb.

The place next to Gaumukh is the Chirbasa which means the place pines. This is situated at a distance of about 8 kms from the Gangotri and then about 7 kms from the Chirbasa. This means place of the birches. But there are no trees actually existing.

The holy river of the Ganges and the tributaries flow past the Chardhams. Char means four and dhams mean places. This is located in the state of Uttaranchal in the Northern part of India. It is believed that Goddess Ganga has descended upon the earth in the form of the river. The most important intention of this is to help the suffering humanity.

This was split into as many as four channels. These include Alakananda in Badrinath, Mandakini in Kedarnath, Bhagirathi in Gangotri and Yamuna in Yamunotri. Each of the four dhams have spell binding beauty and the innumerable number of temples. Every year, there are thousands of tourists throughout the world that visit here. Most people visit this place in search of peace and tranquility. Gaumukh is also famous of the mystery because of the fact that no one has been able to reach the route phase till date.
