Overview

There are Char dhams in Uttarakhand which are very well recognized by Hindus. But the most famous amongst all four are Kedarnath and Badrinath. These temples contain the idols of two main forces- destroyer and preserver of the universe. Where Kedarnath encompasses the idol of Lord Shiva who destroys, similarly Badrinath encompasses the statue of Lord Vishnu who preserves the universe and mankind.

It is believed that whoever visits these Dhams once in a lifetime attains salvation after death. These places do not only attract religious people but also nature lovers. It is not less than a heaven on earth.

Badrinath temple is located in the Gharwal hill tracks along the banks of Alaknanda river in Chamoli district of Land of Gods, Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3133 metres above sea level. It shows the confluence of 2 holy rivers Alaknanda and Lakshaganga.

It lies between the 2 mountain ranges- Nar and Narayan with Nar opposite to the temple and Narayana adjacent to it behind the Neelkantha Peek. This place is known to exist from Satyugh. The structure of the temple is divided into- The Garbhagriha sanctum, the Darshan Mandap, and Sabha Mandap are the 3 main structures of this temple. It contains 3 Kalash on the top of a 15m height of the temple which all are covered in gold.

Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Delhi To Haridwar Railway Station (230 kms / 6-7 hrs)

    Departure will be from the new Delhi railway station. Boarding a train to Haridwar, Enroute lunch is covered within the package. After reaching Haridwar, check-in the hotel and then a visit to Hari ki Pauri for a holy bath and evening aarti.

    Then, pilgrims will come back to the hotel and dine. One-night stays here.

  • Day 2 :Haridwar To Rudraprayag / Guptkashi (156 kms / 5-6 hrs)

    The morning after breakfast, using roadways further, a taxi/bus will be allocated that continues further in the journey. Driving to Rudraprayag. On the way, sightseeing of the confluence of Mandakini and Alaknanda and visiting Tehri dam, etc.

    Check into a hotel, enjoy nearby places. Then dinner and a night stay at Rudraprayag/Guptkashi.

  • Day 3 :Rudraprayag / Guptkashi To Gaurikund To Kedarnath (30-77 kms + 16 kms Trek One Way)

    The morning after breakfast, drive to Sonprayag. It has a biometric registration required for every pilgrim visiting the temple. Then taking a taxi from Sonprayag to reach Gaurikund (5 kms car ride). After that, Start your trek (By walk, horse, pony, or doli) to Kedarnath. Visiting the places on the way places like Guptkashi temple, Bhairav Temple, and Vasuki Tal.

  • Day 4 : Kedarnath & Back To Rudraprayag / Guptkashi (30-77 kms + 20 kms Trek One Way)

    Kedarnath And Back To Rudraprayag/ Guptkashi (30-77 kms + 20 kms Trek One Way) Early morning Darshan in the temple.

    After that, breakfast and later start your trek (By walk, horse, pony, or doli) to Sonprayag.

    Return to Gaurikund and check in the hotel back in Guptkashi/Rudraprayag.

  • Day 5 :Rudraprayag To Badrinath (165 kms / 4-5 hrs)

    After breakfast, drive to Badrinath within the beautiful forest area. Visiting the en-route temples like Narsingh temple and Shankarcharaya Math in Joshimath and other places.

    Then, checking in a hotel at Badrinath, the temple will be visited by the evening.

    Then, returning to Dham with dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 6 :Badrinath To Rudraprayag (165 kms / 4-5 hrs)

    After breakfast, visit other sightseeing places near Badrinath Dham like Mana Village (marking the boundary to China), Ganesh and Vyas Cave, Tapt Kund, Narad Kund, and Bhimkund, Charanpaduka, Punduleshwar and Saraswati river origin, etc.

    On the way back to Rudraprayag, visit to en-route places like Karnaprayag, Nandprayag, and Vishnuprayag.

    Then, an overnight halt in Rudraprayag.

  • Day 7 :Rudraprayag To Haridwar (156 kms / 5-6 hrs)

    After early morning breakfast, drive back to Haridwar. En-route stay at Rishikesh for sightseeing Lakshaman Jhuhla and other places like Devprayag, Vasistha Gufa, etc.

    Then, check back to the hotel in Haridwar. An overnight stay here marks the last leg of the journey.

  • Day 8 :Haridwar - New Delhi Railway Station (230 kms / 6-7 hrs)

    After breakfast, explore Haridwar. Visiting places like Daksha Temple, Shri Yantra Temple, and Maya Devi Temple, etc.

    Finally, the last rail journey to reach back to New Delhi railway station or airport by evening.
