If you are a lover of mother nature then Chopta is undoubtedly the place that you would love to visit. This is often referred to as mini Switzerland. There are a number of treks here and you can visit this place throughout the year. There are also a number of hotels to stay in Chopta.
As it is believed that Lord Shiva and his associates along with Goddess Parvati stayed in this beautiful place. Lord Shiva is believed to stay in Kailash and Goddess Parvati is referred to as Shail Putri which means " little girl of slopes". Tungnath is permanently connected to the cause of panch Kedar sactuaries that was worked by the Pandavas.

Then finally the various body parts of Lord Shiva disguised as a bull rematerialized in five different areas. These speak of the Panch Kedar. The Pandavas assembled the sanctuaries of Lord Shiva in order to adore and revere for the favors and the absolve.Everyone today is connected to one part of his body. Tungnath is the place where the hands of Lord Shiva was seen.
As per the Hindu Folklore, this is the place where the Devas washed. The place is accepted as the Indra Sarovar. This is also the place where the Pandavas were inquired by Yaksha. This is also said that this lake was worked by Bheem who was the most grounded among the Pandavas. Yudhishthira was the smartest and he was the one to have asked Bheema to fabricate his own lake and conciliate his thirst.
This is on the summit of the Tungnath and signifies Moon Rock. This is situated at a height of 4000 meters which is about 13000 feet above the ocean level. From here, you will get to have a wonderful view of the Himalayas and these include the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Chaukhamba, Bundarpanth. The treks here are considered to be one of the best treks and the Indian Trk lovers are sure to love this place. The trek to the Pinnacle is 5km.
You can visit Chopta throughout the year and this is a place where you can relax with mother nature. Therefore, it is important for you to stay prepared with good trekking equipments. This should bring the heavy protective clothes. Even during the summers, the Chopta weather remains quite comfortable. There are ponies available that will take you from Chopta to Tungnath but if you want to go to Chandrashila, then you will have to Chandrashila.
This is the time, when the snow starts dissolving and there are little plants that begin to develop. You will have to drive till Chopta and then trek to Tungnath temple.
Monsoon season prevails during the months of July to September. People therefore avoid going to the hills during this time. But driving i not safe during this time.
Moving during this time is quite difficult and snow fall starts in the month of October.
For reaching Chopta, you will have to take a flight from the Jolly Grant airport. This airport is situated at a distance of 180 kilometers from Chopta. The nearest railway station from Chopta is Rishikesh that is located at a distance of about 170 kilometers. Chopta is situated on NH7 and you can take a bus from Rishikesh to reach this place.
