Beaches of Kerala

Kerala is called as the queen of Arabian Sea. This coastal state is filled with unique beaches every nook and corner. Although beach is not the iconic attraction of Kerala, the beaches are mesmerizing and an important romantic spot for honeymooners. Here is the list of top beaches in Kerala that you ought to visit.

  • Kovalam beach :

    Kovalam beach is bordered with coconut trees and has smooth white sand. This makes the place more suited for family picnic and romantic getaway. You can find a watchtower near the beach, which is a good spot for photography. You can find a few Ayurveda resorts near the beach. People choose monsoon season to visit the beach to enjoy authentic Ayurveda treatments. The beach might not be very big but the place will be clean and interesting.   • Marari Beach :

    This is the beach on which Vasco Da Gama landed on India for the first time. You can find a small monument celebrating this discovery of Vasco Da Gama. The beach has very less crowd making it a great spot for family picnic. There are a few resorts along the beach for some luxury time. It is a famous honeymoon beach in the state.

  • Varkala Beach :

    Varkala beach is a happening beach in Kerala. You can find early morning Yoga classes, Ayurveda center along the beach and many other workshops happening from time to time. There are numerous beach activities to enjoy here. There is a surfing school where you can also rent gears. You can also enjoy snorkeling here during winter season. This beach is also called as Papanasam beach and people on religious tours visit this beach to take a dip in the ocean. It is said that bathing in the water will wash out the sins. There is also a fresh water spring in the beach.

  • Alappuzha Beach :

    Alappuzha beach is famous for beach events and festivals. You can enjoy sand art festival during summer season. There are also many other annual events that take place in this beach. It is also a very famous picnic spot among tourists. People spend a few hours in this beach before heading towards the backwaters for a houseboat ride. Apart from these, there are numerous other beaches in Kerala like Cherai beach, Meenkunnu beach, Kollam beach, Vallikunnu beach, Thalikilam beach and many others.
