By Air

The fastest way of reaching this state by any place is by traveling by airplanes. One of its airports is located in Srinagar which is also known by the name Sheikh Ul-Alam International Airport.

The second airport is located in Jammu known as the Jammu airport or the Jammu Civil Enclave and the third one is located at Leh known as the Kushook Bakula Rimpochee Airport.

These airports have connectivity with some of the major cities of the country such as Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad and many more. The Jammu airport only operated domestic flights.

One of the most fascinating things about Leh airport is that it is located at a very great height of approximately 10,682ft above the ground which makes it look even more beautiful.

Airline companies like GoAir, Spicejet, Indigo and Air India operate their flights from these places. After one has reached the airport they can easily hire a four-wheeler to reach their destinations towns and cities.


By Rail

Railway connectivity is only available in Jammu. There is no rail transport facility available in Ladakh and Kashmir region. The railway station at Jammu is known as Jammu Tawi Railway station or the Udhampur railway station. This station is connected to all the major and metropolitan cities of the country such as Kolkata, Trivendrum, Pune, Chennai and more.

Railway connectivity has been made very easy from Jammu as trains operate daily to and from to the other major cities. The train journey is usually followed up to the hills with the help of a bus or a hired cab.

There is another railway station to reach Srinagar easily which is known as the Banihal Railway station. Although this station has great connectivity with Srinagar the major drawback is that this station only operated during the summer season.

By Road

Who doesn’t like long drives? But not everyone can afford to hire their own private vehicle. Thus traveling by road in the city has been also made very easy. Being a tourist place the roads are very properly built and are also maintained periodically.

If one is planning to take a road trip then they will have to take the National Highway 1A as it connects the different cities together. There are various buses operating controlled by the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport which connects the nearby cities such as Patnitop, Srinagar and Amritsar.

One will always pass through the Jahawar Tunnel which connects Jammu and Kashmir. There are several peaks or heights which cannot be reached if traveling by a bus thus one will have to hire a cab or a jeep as the roads are very narrow once the altitude increases very high.

Traveling by roads can be risky during the rainy and winter seasons because there might be high chances of landslides and heavy snowfall due to which the roads could be blocked for a really long time and then the planned schedule would have to be compromised.

Jammu and Kashmir are considered to be the World’s famous tourist destination and have been attracting domestic and international tourists for a long time. Regardless of the political unrest in the state of Kashmir tourism has still been regarded as the most important economic activity of this place.
