Sightseeing at Kochi


Bolghatty Palace
This Dutch palace is located on the Bolghatty Island. The island has a well golf course and the panoramic view makes it an attractive picnic spot. At present it is being used as hotel.

Chinese Fishing Nets
The chinese fishing nets established here are the only ones of its kind in India. It is believed that traders from the court of the Chinese ruler Kublai Khan introduced these nets here.

Dutch Palace
The Dutch Palace was built by the Portugese. The place has a well collection of mural paintings depicting the scenes from the Hindu epics Mahabharatha and Ramayana.

Fort Kochi beach
A leisurely walk along the beach, particularly at sunset with the chinese fishing nets and sailing ships in the background, is a well experience. The forts of Kochi are inevitable Fort Kochi that leaves a strong legacy of the Europeans. The Dutch Palace at Mattancherry is also an exquisite palace where the wall murals have been done using the tempera process of painting.

Many European style bungalows can be seen along the shoreline.

St. Francis Church
The oldest church built by European in India. Vasco da Gama was buried in the St. Francis Church. Later his remains were taken back to Portugal. In spite of that the exact place where he was buried has been marked out inside the church. 
 
Beaches in Kochi
Walking on the beaches of Kochi is the most enjoyable and peaceful experience one can enjoy. Enjoy some relaxing time on Cherai beach which is ideal for swimming. Dolphins too are an added highlight of this beach.
