When it comes to ISKCON the biggest question comes into mind is – what is ISKCON. Verbally speaking ISKCON is an International Society for Krishna Consciousness founded by Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in July 1966. It welcomes all devotees of Lord Krishna from around the Globe. Out of all the reasons why ISKCON Temple has been established, there are 7 main reasons why it’s there. The reasons include propagating consciousness and spiritual consciousness amongst devotees of Krishna; to educate people in techniques of spiritual life and to spread the teachings of Bhagwat Geeta.

Things to do in ISKCON Temple

The main Temple includes Vedic Library, Vedic Museum and Robot Show, Photo Gallery and a huge vegetarian restaurant – Govinda.

  • Vedic Library : There are around 2000 spiritual books which can be read by anyone. There is a video section too where one can watch documentaries related to spirituality.

  • Vedic Museum and Robot Show : Its one of its kind museum which shows various Vedic Philosphical and Cultural heritage. It plays emphasis on two Hindu Epics – Ramayana and Mahabharata. In the Robotic section one can experience Bhagwat Geeta dramatic representation, Ramayana Art Gallery which tells about Lord Rama and his life and Quadrascope which creates the effect of hundreds of monitor in a gigantic video. The whole experience is enthralling.

  • Govinda : Govinda is a vegetarian restaurant inside the Temple vicinity. One can have strictly vegetarian food by paying a certain price.

  • What is most enchanting of all ISKCON Temples is the beauty of Radha Krishna idols with dear elder brother of Lord Krishna – Balram. Sometimes they are so beautiful – it seems as if they will come alive and speak out! The beauty of the sculptures can really be seen in the eyes of these idols. So, when you are here, do take time to look at the idols, you will really admire them. The Aarti timing is 04:30 a.m. If it’s possible for you to get up really early, do not miss this one out.

    Lifetime Memberships too are given out after much speculation. If you are interested you can apply and get a membership after paying certain fees for the same.
