The Main Attraction
The principal attraction of Bharatpur is the Keoladeo National Park. Falling in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it is one of the best parts, especially for those who love to be in the lap of nature.
  • Formerly Keoladeo National Park was known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary
  • It was a royal hunting ground for the then Kings, who ruled the place
  • British declared it a reserve for birds in 1956
  • You can enjoy loads of migratory birds from China, Siberia, Europe, and Tibet
  • More than 230 species of migratory birds come here annually
Keoladeo National Park offers you to observe a good number of wild animals. Sambhar is the largest antelope native and you can easily spot it in its vicinities with animals such as Black Buck, Spotted deer, Sambhar, Pythons, and Nilgais.



Bharatpur in Historical Perspective
It was in the year 1733 AD, Maharaja Suraj Mal founded Bharatpur, which was then regarded as a fortified city.
Formerly known as Mewat, Bharatpur, in today’s times, has emerged as one of the impressive places to enjoy.

Lohagarh Fort
Other popular tourist attraction of Bharatpur is the famous Lohagarh Fort, which attracts millions of visitors to this place.
The three palaces are known as Kishori Mahal, Kothi Khas and Mahal Khas.






Bharatpur was a famous animal hunting ground before British turned it into an animal reserve in 1956
