01

Mumbai

Today you meet the Travelogy India representative at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel from where you are taken to the ChatrapatiShivaji Terminus Railway Station. After a warm traditional greeting your majestic journey on Maharaja Express begins; first destination being Ajanta.

Dinner is served at the spectacular dining car of the train and there is an overnight stay at the train.

Ajanta

After breakfast you are taken to the wonders of the 2nd century BC, the Ajanta Caves. This World Heritage Site is impressive with unique frescoes, also known as temperas. Witness the miraculous Buddhist paintings which were coloured with natural pigments and paste with animal glue and vegetable gum.

You return for lunch and then Maharaja Express sets off for Udaipur.

Udaipur

After a delicious breakfast on board, you step at the quaint oasis of Udaipur located at the heart of the Thar Desert. Enjoy the cool breeze enjoying a boat cruise over the crystalline waters of Lake Pichola or get a panoramic view of the Lake City from the City Palace. A blend of European, Chinese, Mughal and Indian architecture, the City Palace is a feast to the eye with its white domes, handing gardens and intricately carved pavilions.

The Jagmandir Palace with its imposing beauty stands at the heart of Lake Pichola. You enjoy a traditional Rajasthani lunch here as the blue water ripples round you. Next, you may get back to the train to rest at your private couch or rejuvenate with a soothing spa treatment. Shopping is another option; if there is time left you are also taken to the magical light and music show at City palace.

After a sumptuous dinner you spend the night at the train as it heads towards Jodhpur.

Jodhpur

Today you wake up at the land of the golden sands, Jodhpur. You can spend the morning at the Bishnoi Village, to feel the unique lifestyle of the deserts. Enjoy a jeep safari to check out the black bucks, blue bulls, chinkaras, desert foxes and hares which inhabit the place in peace. If you want to relax you may opt out for the plan and spend some time at the spa of a five star hotel.

Lunch is served at the train and then you head towards one of the largest forts of the country, the Mehrangarh Fort. You may continue with your spa treatment at the hotel. You can also go on a shopping spree as Rajasthan is a land of colourful boutiques and leather shoes.

The Mehrangarh Fort is a pride of Rajasthan, lying four hundred feet above the skyline of Jodhpur. This red sandstone building has a charm and mystery of its own. While the milky white marble memorial of JaswantThada is an epitome of spotless beauty, the UmaidBhawan Palace Museum takes you back to the golden age of Rajput reign.

Evening is joyous with sparkling fireworks and delicious traditional dinner at Hanwant Mahal.

There is overnight stay at Maharaja Express as it heads towards Bikaner.

Bikaner

After breakfast you may opt to enjoy the wonderful ambience of Maharaja Express or step down to visit the Lalgarh Museum and Desnok Temple.

TheLalgarh palace Museum is a red sandstone castle which exhibits a blend of Indian, European, Indian and Mughal architecture. With elaborate fireplaces, fourth largest library of the world, lush green meadows and dancing peacocks, the palace is known for its spellbinding beauty.

The 400 years old deity of the royal family of Jodhpur and Bikaner is housed at the Karni Mata Temple. Your next destination is to the Junagarh Fort, an exquisite example of Rajput and Gujarati architecture. The stucco paintings, stone works and lattice designs enhance the beauty of the fort.

Later in the day we begin our journey for Sundowners at the Sand Dunes. We step down at the Gajner Palace to enjoy a hi-tea with the royal family.

You return to train for dinner and overnight stay.

Jaipur

After breakfast and refreshment, today you step down at the Pink City, Jaipur. The journey starts with a visit to the Amer Fort on a decked up elephant. After spending sometime inspecting the adorable designs of the fort, you head to the City Palace or Jal Mahal. While the City Palace is a treasure house of royal belongings, armours and old coins, the Jal Mahal is a fun place to play and care the baby elephants. You even get a chance to paint these cool creatures.

After lunch at the train, you can relax with a spa treatment at the palace hotel or enjoy shopping traditional Rajasthani dresses, having mehendi designs on hand or indulging in puppet shows. The Ranbagh golf course is the heaven for lovers of golf.

Ranthambore/ Fatehpur Sikri

Today you embark on a thrilling journey to the Ranthambore National Park. After breakfast you head towards the jungle on a jeep safari or elephant safari. Ranthambore National Park is considered to be the best place in India to spot tigers. While you might even be lucky to see hunting tigers, the sambar, chinkara, leopards and elephants are the other wildlife of the forest. The forest is melodious with the tweets of hornbills, cuckoos, herons, egrets, pelicans and ibis, to name a few.

Afterwards we head towards FatehpurSikri. An amazing city of red sandstone palaces and mosques, FatehpurSikri is considered to be the first planned city of the Mughals.

There is dinner and overnight stay at the train.

Agra / Delhi

Today after breakfast you are taken to view one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal. This pristine white marble structure is graceful with its changing colours and being engraved with semi-precious stones. Taj Mahal stands at the banks of River Yamuna as the memorial of love, depicting the love of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.

After champagne breakfast at Taj Khema you return to Maharaja Express. The trip comes to an end as Maharaja Express moves towards Delhi. You off board Maharaja Express at Delhi.

The tariff of the Maharajas’ Express includes accommodation, meals, beverages (light drinks, tea, coffee, and mineral water), Indian wines (in house brands), butler service, and porter-age at stations, guided tours and entrance fees at monuments. The tariff however does not include taxes, insurances, alcoholic beverages, telephone calls, laundry, and fees of video and professional cameras.

If cancelled 89-60 days prior to departure date, then 50% of the published tour cost is deducted
If cancelled 59-0 days prior to departure date, then 100% of the published tour cost is deducted
If you fail to show up on the departure date, then 100% of the published tour cost is deducted
