Varkala beach is a happening beach in Kerala. You can find early morning Yoga classes, Ayurveda center along the beach and many other workshops happening from time to time. There are numerous beach activities to enjoy here. There is a surfing school where you can also rent gears. You can also enjoy snorkeling here during winter season. This beach is also called as Papanasam beach and people on religious tours visit this beach to take a dip in the ocean. It is said that bathing in the water will wash out the sins. There is also a fresh water spring in the beach.

Alappuzha beach is famous for beach events and festivals. You can enjoy sand art festival during summer season. There are also many other annual events that take place in this beach. It is also a very famous picnic spot among tourists. People spend a few hours in this beach before heading towards the backwaters for a houseboat ride.
